Gaming comes in many forms. It can come in FPS, RTS, MMO, RPG, MMORPG and others but we are focusing on the RPG aspect of gaming and what made it, what it is today - with the Top 5 RPG games of all time. We have come up with a list of what has made the RPG class unique and different from all other games with some of the classics and well known appearing on the list. For starters, our number five pick is GTA, San Andreas.
5) GTA San Andreas

With many many games out there hitting the roof with massive sales, graphics, and great storylines, this game is sure not an exception. GTA: San Andreas, although some may beg to differ, we chose this as one of our top because of the ground breaking storyline with a look into the gang world back in the 90’s. You are plunged into the typical surroundings in a poor neighborhood where shootings, robberies, and drugs are commonplace. You play as a reformed gangster who has just come back to San Andreas to visit his mothers funeral but does he relapse back into a life of crime, drugs, and violence? This kind of storyline always makes for a great game, which is what San Andreas is.
4) The sims

Now the Sims are a different story. The sims brought good gameplay along with decent graphics for the time. This game helped shape the modern industry of RPGs to the point where you are literally carrying a second life that you can nurse into existence. Although there are some tough spots, it has real-life circumstances and conditions and requires you to get a job, pay bills, interact with people, and carry on a normal life if you are to succeed.
3) Diablo I

The Diablo series is the game that pretty much shaped all of RPGs to come. That is why it is number 3 of our top 5. Diablo didn’t have the best graphics, but it did have the storyline and abilities that made it one of the best. Diablo not only got you addicted to casting spells and moving from town to town fighting zombies and monsters, but it gave you a whole new side of RPG gameplay. Instead of just doing missions, you are using magic, swords, the elements, and you have to use tactics as well.
2) Grand Theft Auto IV

The recent unveil of Grand Theft Auto IV by Rockstar is the newest top of the line RPG. The game recruits physics, real life situations such as being thrown through a window, or being drug under a car. It also brings in lifelike buildings, surroundings, sounds, and people. They had hundreds of people employ their voices for street-side chat and with all this content comes a great, developed game. These are just some of the reasons that make Grand Theft Auto great and why it is one of our top.
1) Oblivion

For our number 1 pick, we had a lot of discussion and finally made our minds up that The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion should be our top pick. Sword fighting, magic blazing combat is only a portion of the excellence of Oblivion. Along with the real faces and thousands of unique items, this game allows you to make your own decisions all along the way and pick your own path. They also have diverse cultures, speech, and buildings along with their multiple cities. But the icing on the cake is that they allow you to change your surroundings through their detailed construction program. You can add spells, weapons, buildings, missions, characters, objects, books, islands, new worlds, and I could go on and on with the possibilities but that is what make Oblivion one of the best. The possibilities are endless and it can keep you playing for years, and I would know.
