Forget the frenzy of next-gen consoles – Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Revolution. They were all hogging the limelight with launches, announcements, leaks etc, etc. But have you considered the fact that even today there are more PC gamers worldwide than all the console gamers put together? Actually there is no comparison at all.
Not surprisingly, Microsoft VP, Peter Moore said recently that they had been neglecting PC gaming off late and apologized to PC gamers. It said that all the focus would be back on PC gaming as the Xbox 360 is done with for the time being now.
With the Windows Vista with its awesome graphics and multimedia capabilities coming up, the focus is more likely to shift back on the PC than the consoles. No wonder MS is encouraging creation of newer editions of popular games like Halo 2 for its new upcoming console.
My bet is that we are going to see a revival of PC gaming from the drop last year and the upswing will be sustained for quite a few years now when the next-gen console war heats up again.
